Be Right Back

Forgive me, but my hands have been full with this little slice of Heaven!

Last Monday, on May 20th, David and I welcomed our little one into the world!
Thomas Henry Griffin was born at 6:56am, weighing a perfect 7 lbs 9 oz, and was 20" long.
We are crazy in love with Henry and feel so blessed with the gift of him!

I'll be back to blogging soon, but in the mean time I am soaking up all of Henry's newborn preciousness!

Mary McDonald For Schumacher

This ad makes me so happy!

Mary McDonald for Schumacher

I love Mary McDonald. I love Schumacher. The combo makes me swoon.

Did you all get to tour the Atlanta Symphony Decorator's Showhouse this year? I sure hope so! James Farmer's room was amazing (if I do say so myself), as was the rest of the palatial house. Sadly, the last day the house was open was on Sunday. However, if you did go, you saw this fabric on the windows in the master bedroom:
Chinois Palais in Blush Conch by @Mary McDonald from @Schumacher — Fabric Wallcovering Trimming Furnishing #fabric #linen #chinoiserie #birds #floral #neutral

It was incredible. And it's equally incredible in the other color ways too.

Chinois Palais in Lettuce by @Mary McDonald from @Schumacher — Fabric Wallcovering Trimming Furnishing #fabric #linen #chinoiserie #birds #floral #green

Mary McDonald's line of fabrics and rugs for Schumacher is just divine.
Trims, tapes, appliques, fabrics = yummo

Condo for Sale

Hi blogger friends!
Thought I'd share with you all the condo we have for sale in Athens, GA.

Want an investment property?
Have a child starting school in Athens?
Enjoy cheering on the Dawgs during the Fall?

I lived here in college and we rented it for some time afterward - now, it's time to pass this fun place on to someone else. I absolutely loved every minute of living here! It's super safe, and has tons of room - especially closets! It's super easy to walk to/from Downtown Athens, to/from campus especially Sanford Stadium, with a primo location between Baxter and Milledge (Hwy 15).

The complex is Deering Oaks Condominiums. There's a fantastic Home Owner's Association that looks after everything along with weekly trash and recycling. My unit has the largest patio in the complex - perfect for a grill, table and chairs. We've got more parking too...awesome for company!

We recently renovated the space too...we updated from my bright college colors and made the baths and kitchen a bit more sophisticated. Please do pass this post along to anyone you think may be interested! And contact me with any additional questions:

Here are a few before shots pre-renovation:

DURING:
The entire condo received a paint job - Benjamin Moore's Coastal Fog now graces the walls; the closets, trim and doors are all Decorator's White.

And now, the AFTER:

The entrance hallway received updated lighting fixtures along with the paint job. The flooring in the hallway and kitchen is parquet - so pretty! And there are two storage closets as well. The rest of the unit features a low pile Berber that's perfect for high traffic.

The front door opens into a small foyer or vestibule.

The breakfast area or keeping room has a chandelier and bay window.

The small door on the right is a standing pantry - really, there is so much storage space here!

In the kitchen, the subway tile back splash was recently installed. The cabinets are solid wood and the appliances are all updated.

The living room:
The fireplace runs off gas and there are cable outlets on two walls. The French Doors open to the spacious patio and back grounds.

The hallway between the bedrooms features a storage closet, a linen closet, the laundry room, and the entrance to the guest bath.

The guest bath now has recessed lighting, raised cabinetry now painted white, white cultured marble counter tops and new hardware.

The laundry room has an updated washer/dryer and a new light fixture.

The guest room features two spacious closets. During my last years living here, I had two double beds in this room - it's got plenty of room for a roommate or your weekend company!

The master bedroom has an updated light fixture and plenty of natural light. It's very private too with window access to the rear grounds of the complex.

There are two large walk in closets too! I still miss these! :)

The master bath has both a standing tiled-in shower and a garden tub.

The counter tops are now white cultured marble, the cabinetry has been raised, and all has been painted white.

The back patio connects to a common space between all units which also serves as a fire escape. The nice landscaping and pretty plants are all maintained by the HOA.

The patio is double the size of the ones at other units so there's plenty of room for your outdoor entertaining!

It's a great, safe, convenient place to live or rent, or to enjoy on the weekends. Please do let me know if you'd like more information on this amazing property!

Rebecca Wood Pottery

I was so excited to open my April issue of House Beautiful (I know, I'm a little behind on writing about this) to see that they featured my favorite pottery - Athens, Georgia's own Rebecca Wood Pottery Studio

I've been collecting for a few years now beginning when I graduated from college - a few place settings here, a serving piece there - and with my wedding, I was able to complete 12 place settings of it.
My colors are chartreuse, ocean, and baby grass...but I love them all - especially the poppy and sunset.
I'll take mine in mysteria & clover!

When my sister Abbye was in college, we began her collection too - she chose eggplant, poppy, and ocean - a beautiful color combo that looks just like her!

The serving pieces make amazing gifts, and most of the brides I work with at Heery's Too register for the pottery line too - it's fun to use every day or to mix with what you've got. I mix my chartreuse with an inexpensive red set from Pier One for the holidays.

Be sure and stop in Heery's Too in Athens and check out the inventory!

Here are a few more candy-colored images to get you excited to set a colorful summer table!

Restoration Hardware: rugs and tableware

Restoration Hardware has seriously honed their signature look - they've done a great job in branding themselves, their lifestyle brand, and inspiring us all to do the same! While I don't think I'd like to live in a home that was tooootttaaallly this style, I do love a touch of it here and there.  And one piece I can really get on board with is their wool rug collection - especially the creamy backgrounds with touches of black.

You've seen the ads

I love the luxe look of these rugs on the floor - over concrete, dark stained wood, unfinished boards, or tile...they make me want to be barefoot!

How fun are these interior images with Moroccan wool rugs?

I saw a few of these puppies at Scott's Antique Market in April if any of you are looking for one!

On another note, have you seen the new tableware collection for Restoration Hardware?
The colors are fabulous drab shades of greige, gray, white and cream. A bit Dutch in their look, don't you think? It's technically china, but reminds me of drabware.

I think a little touch of the drabware look is nice. You've probably seen piles of it on the Martha Stewart show and in her magazines - she's collected it for a long time.
Here are some of my favorite Martha Stewart-esque images of this type of pottery
